Baba Eddie creates original music, compositions, arrangements, recordings and creative projects rooted in African diasporic rhythm, musicianship and contemporary sound.
The Foundation
Rhythm is the foundation. Everything else grows from it.
Baba Eddie's creative practice begins with rhythm and expands through melody, harmony, composition, arrangement, movement, storytelling and recording. Traditional West African and African diasporic musical languages meet jazz, funk, Afro Latin and contemporary production.
The goal is not to separate tradition from innovation, but to let them speak.

Ina Denw
A cross cultural recording project connecting the Institut National des Arts in Bamako, Mali with musicians from Jackson State University. Baba Eddie contributed as a percussionist, arranger and recording engineer. Stateside musicians arranged and recorded new parts for the project, with Baba Eddie also performing djembe on select tracks. The project brought musicians together across continents, creating new arrangements and recordings that connected Malian musical traditions with the musical perspectives of the participating JSU musicians.
